Chief Medical Officer – Madison, WI

The Murphey Group, Inc. has been retained to recruit a Chief Medical Officer for a 40 year old, not-for-profit hospice and palliative care organization in Madison, WI.  Our client has been an innovator and leader in both caring for patients and their families, and in educating others about death, dying and grief.  Our client is the largest hospice provider (ADC 1000) in Wisconsin and offers the following services: Hospice Care, Palliative Care, and Senior Care.  Our client has two hospice IPUs totaling 62 beds, they are in talks with several payors on launching Medicare advantage programs, they are a NPHI member, and they offer several post-acute care programs and services.  This is an excellent opportunity to join a nationally recognized and innovative organization!

Reporting to the CEO, the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) serves as the hospice medical director as outlined in the Medicare Hospice Interpretive Guidelines.  This individual has responsibility for the medical component of hospice and palliative care programs., including the medical oversight over all nurse practitioners (15) and physicians (12) employed by or under contract. The CMO ensures his/her team are properly trained and educated to successfully remove barriers to hospice care, directs the establishment and maintenance of medical standards/protocols and systems of monitoring accountability, drives continual improvement of care delivery and ensures compliance with applicable standards and regulations.  As a member of the executive leadership team, the CMO drives agency-wide strategy development and execution toward achievement of mission and vision.

Medical Director, Hospice and Palliative Care – Asheville, NC

The Murphey Group, Inc. has been retained to recruit a Medical Director, Hospice and Palliative Care for our client in Asheville, NC.  The Medical Director, Hospice and Palliative Care will lead a team of physicians who provide palliative care consults in an 800-bed, Level II Trauma Center, and in Nursing Homes and LTC settings.  The team of physicians also sees hospice patients in a 27-bed freestanding facility and in private home settings.

The Medical Director will: 1.) work with leadership to grow hospice ADC through earlier identification of hospice patients; 2.) help build a sustainable outpatient palliative care model that connects the continuum of Inpatient Palliative, Outpatient Palliative (presence in specialty clinics), and Hospice.

Chief Medical Officer – Baltimore, MD

The Murphey Group, Inc. has been retained to recruit a Chief Medical Officer for our client with corporate offices in Baltimore, MD.  Our client is a nationally recognized, nonprofit leader in serious illness and end-of-life care.  Our client employs over 60 physicians and nurse practitioners and serves 7500 LTC patients daily and they provide medical directors for over 30 nursing homes in the Baltimore, MD area.  Their hospice program has an ADC of 1000 and this includes three inpatient units with 66 beds.  They have been moving programs upstream and have a level-3 PCMH for seriously ill patients.  This is an excellent opportunity to join a nationally recognized and innovative organization!  Our client is the largest Hospice provider in Maryland and the largest Geriatric practice as well.

Associate Professor of Geriatric Medicine / Medical Director CCRC – Charlottesville, VA

The Murphey Group, Inc. has been retained by The University of Virginian Physicians Group on behalf of the Department of Medicine to recruit an Associate Professor of Geriatric Medicine with Medical Director responsibilities for a local, highly-rated continuing care retirement community (CCRC).

In addition, clinical duties will consist of direct patient care in the CCRC’s outpatient clinical setting and its assisted living and skilled nursing facilities.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the medical education of Geriatric Medicine fellows, residents, and medical students in the classroom and clinical settings. Rank, tenure-track, and salary are commensurate with qualifications and experience. This faculty position can be tenure-ineligible Assistant or Associate Professor, Clinical Faculty, or tenure-eligible Assistant or Associate Professor, Clinician Educator.

Candidates must be an MD and board-certified in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine.  Board eligibility or certification in Geriatrics is preferred but not required.  Leadership and administrative experience of four to five years in direct care of the older adult population are also highly desired.

Hospice Physician openings – West Coast Florida

Our search firm has been retained to recruit a Hospice Physician for a large non-profit hospice and palliative care organization on the West Coast of Florida.  This is an excellent opportunity where you can pick in which of the following settings you would like to work:

  1. Hospice Physician – only inpatient work in a 12-bed Hospice inpatient unit in a tertiary hospital.
  2. Hospice Physician – part of their facilities team – will have help from an APRN, will have two teams that cover multiple ALF’s and Nursing homes.
  3. Hospice Physician – will see patients strictly in private homes. About ½ of each day will be working in the officer, will need to do 10-15 total visits each week in homes.
