PACE Program Medical Director – Lexington, NC

The Murphey Group, Inc. has been retained to recruit a Medical Director for a not-for-profit PACE Program in Lexington, NC.

The Medical Director will work out of the PACE Center in Lexington, NC and will lead a medical team consisting of one full-time physician and three nurse practitioners.  This role will spend approximately 95% of the time administratively with a focus on clinical outcomes, the implementation and oversight of the quality assessment and performance improvement program, and for the development and maintenance of medical policies and procedures/standards and protocols.

Current enrollment for the PACE program is 215 participants.  We are seeking a physician with clinical experience seeing frail/elderly patients and we are searching for a person who has worked in an IDT/team based model of care setting (i.e. Hospice).

PACE (Program of All Inclusive Care for the Elderly) is a program for frail/elderly recipients who have been determined to need “nursing facility level of care” but wish to remain in their home and community as long as possible. Value of PACE: using a capitated payment system, PACE programs are able to provide the entire continuum of care and services to older adults with chronic care needs while maintaining their independence at home for as long as possible.  Each PACE Program is comprised of an Interdisciplinary Team of health professionals working together to provide comprehensive care for PACE participants.

Hospice Associate Medical Director – Melbourne, FL

The Murphey Group, Inc. has been retained to recruit a Vice President, Medical Affairs for Owensboro Health Regional Hospital (OHRH) in Owensboro, KY.  In 2013, a brand new state-of-the-art OHRH campus opened and is licensed to operate 477 beds, 30 transitional care beds, including a Level III NICU unit making OHRH one of the largest in Western Kentucky.

From a health system perspective, Owensboro Health is financially strong, serves over 12 counties in Western Kentucky and Southern Indiana, is comprised of Owensboro Health Regional Hospital, Owensboro Health Muhlenberg Community Hospital, Owensboro Health Medical Group (180 providers, 25 locations), and Owensboro Health Healthplex – new state-of-the-art outpatient facilities opened in Henderson, Madisonville, and Muhlenberg County.

This position is open due to the future retirement of the current VPMA.  Reporting to the System Chief Medical Officer, the VPMA at OHRH will be responsible for:

  • Partners with physician leaders to help lead the organization’s agendas for clinical quality and safety, patient experience, and cost of clinical care, including the development and implementation of policies and procedures; performance metrics, targets, and incentive systems; action plans for improvement; clinical pathways; coordination across the spectrum of care to outside organizations and providers; integration of quality, safety and efficiency into new models of care; researching internal and external best practices.
  • Provides a medical/physician perspective and expertise in the development and implementation of corporate objectives.
  • Represents Owensboro Health Regional Hospital on the Clinical Leadership and Clinical Integration Steering Committees.
  • Actively works with the Chief Medical Information Officer (CMIO) on protocols/care pathways/best practices that align with the clinical integration strategy.
  • Participates in the Owensboro Health Peer Review process as determined by the peer review structure.
  • Facilitates dispute resolution between providers as needed.
  • Investigates and addresses breaches of quality patient care or ethical conduct by medical staff members and makes appropriate recommendations to the Chief Medical Officer.
  • Facilitates discussions with providers on issues surrounding quality, variation, and performance improvement; including chart reviews to align practice patterns.

Owensboro, KY is the fourth-largest city in the state by population. Owensboro is located approximately 107 miles southwest of Louisville, KY and is approximately 135 miles northwest of Nashville, TN.  The 2015 population was 59,042 and the metropolitan population was estimated at 116,506.
