Chief Medical Officer, Hospice and Palliative Care – N. Iowa

The Murphey Group, Inc. has been retained by a hospital affiliated, not for profit Hospice and Palliative Care organization to recruit a new Chief Medical Officer.  This program is affiliated with a nationally recognized medical center that has been recognized as one of the nation’s 100 Top Hospitals and recognized as a Top 100 Cardiovascular Hospital. 

The Chief Medical Officer shall provide and/or supervise the medical aspects of the delivery of care for the Hospice & Palliative Care program and the associated Fellowship program.  This includes oversight for the quality of care, assistance in the development of standards of practice, and assistance with the development of programs to assure competence of hospice and palliative care staff.

Requirements:

A.  Education:

  1. Graduate from an accredited school of medicine and licensed to practice in the state of  Iowa. 
  2. Board Certification/eligible in the practice specialty of Hospice and Palliative Medicine. If eligible will obtain boards within 18 months of accepting position

 B.  Experience

  1. Minimum of 2 years experience in Hospice and Palliative Care
  2. Managerial experience of people and processes preferred.

C.  Special Skills, Competencies, and Aptitudes

1.  Knowledge and belief in hospice and palliative concept of care.

  1. Demonstrated ability in program administration, knowledge of health care policy and reimbursement issues.
  2. Strong working knowledge of Medicare Conditions of Participation for Hospice and Palliative Care and JCAHO Standards.
